Week 11 – The Final Stretch of the First Trimester

Welcome to the 11th week of pregnancy. This week marks the end of the first trimester, and you are now very close to your second trimester – a stage when many pregnant women find relief from early symptoms. Your little one is growing rapidly and will almost double in size over the next three weeks. You may notice your bump is slowly becoming visible and your energy is returning.

At this stage, many expectant parents begin planning their first baby purchases – whether it’s a pram or baby's first clothes. Have you already shared your pregnancy news with others? In our my junior® guide you’ll find creative ideas for announcing it.

Baby's development in the 11th week of pregnancy

Your baby now measures 4–5 cm and weighs around 9 g. The liver is producing bile, the pancreas insulin, and the heart is beating strongly. Eyes and ears are moving into place, the sex organs are developing but are not yet clearly visible. The lungs are formed but will only become active after birth – until then, the umbilical cord provides everything your little one needs.

Your body

Nausea often subsides, and you may feel more energetic. Your growing uterus can cause frequent urination, and the increasing blood volume can lead to thirst and a greater appetite. Make sure your diet is balanced and you drink enough water. Good oral hygiene remains important to prevent gum problems.

Tips for week 11

  • Patience with sex determination: Usually only reliably visible in the 2nd trimester.
  • Skincare: Use mild, moisturising products.
  • Planning: Start organising baby purchases early.
