Week 10 of Pregnancy – A Milestone in the First Trimester

The 10th week of pregnancy is a significant moment: your baby is no longer an embryo, but a foetus and increasingly looks like a little human. The first trimester is coming to an end soon, and exciting check-ups are coming up – including your maternity record, where growth, ultrasound images, and lab results are documented.

With each day, the risk of miscarriage decreases, while your baby grows rapidly. Tooth buds are forming, and your uterus can now be felt from the outside. It is also gradually becoming outwardly visible that you are carrying a little miracle inside you.

Baby's development in week 10 of pregnancy

Your baby now measures 2–3 cm (crown-rump length) and already looks quite human. The heart, organs, and joints are formed, and the nose, ears, eyes, fingers, and toes are clearly visible. The webbing between fingers and toes is receding. The brain is receiving its first stimuli, and taste buds are developing on the tongue. Movements are already taking place, but they are not yet noticeable.

Your body

The uterus is now the size of a grapefruit. Some symptoms like nausea may persist, while others improve. You may feel short of breath as you need more oxygen. Your breasts are changing significantly – visible veins and darker nipples. First-time mothers often do not see a bump yet, while women who have been pregnant before sometimes do.
